How Do I Define Success?

Success can be looked at from a variety of angles. One person’s definition of success may not be the same as another’s. I attended a conference where one speaker described how successful he was, but he’d had three divorces. I knew then that business success at any cost was not right for me.

My personal success is having been married 29 years despite major struggles my husband and I have endured. There were times (especially early in our marriage) that I often didn’t like him very much, and he probably didn’t like me either. But things got better. And we’re happy with two wonderful kids and two grandsons.

I also have a few long-term close friends. I don’t live in the same state as any of them any longer as life has taken each of us to different locations. But we are there for each other through thick and thin, and knowing you have someone you can reach out to in a moment’s notice is so valuable.

And finally, business….I feel success is helping clients with their needs while being able to be compensated for the services provided. We each receive value for what we are giving.
