Are You Easy to Find?
Your contact information is one of the most important gems of information on your LinkedIn profile.
We spend lots of time making sure your banner is eye-catching and that the information about you and your business is written in the best way to attract your ideal clients.
But picture yourself in this frustrating scenario: you’ve searched high and low for a specialty shop and finally found what sounds like the perfect one … and they won’t let you in the front door or answer their phones. URRRGH!
That’s how it can feel to your readers who aren’t completely familiar with where certain information is on a profile.
LinkedIn places your contact information and social media handles under a small button a little ways under your banner, as below:
It’s relatively small, isn’t it, especially if someone doesn’t know the button’s there.
So here’s my Pro Tip for you: make sure you list all the ways an interested reader can get in touch with you by stacking your contact info at the bottom of both the About and the current Experience sections.
Here’s a sort of replica of the very end of my About section. See how I’ve made my information really easy to see? It’s set apart from the copy above it, into its own little section.
I’ve done the same thing in my Experience section under the Debbie McCormick LinkedIn Consulting part.
Separate and highlight your contact info like this, and a reader will never be frustrated that they can’t see how to reach out to you.
