Sustaining Entrepreneurship
Being an entrepreneur is one of the easiest things someone can do, but like many things entrepreneur is only a title until you are breathing and living entrepreneurship every day. When I first started my business I thought I was taking such a huge step in a direction that I didn’t understand, yet entrepreneurship was already in my blood. You see, growing up my dad dipped his toes in being an entrepreneur my whole life and the rest of his body sitting squarely in corporate working for someone else. I’m grateful that what he started stuck with me and that I found the fortitude it took to make that transition to fully becoming a successful entrepreneur.
I started my business in 2007 in an economy that was about to crash and while there have been many years since then the business didn’t turn a profit, everyone involved in the business still believed in its future. Fast forward to 2020, a year that was supposed to be our most successful and profitable yet and we get punched by a pandemic that shuts many businesses down. I’m reminded of something my business coach says “being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart”. Now while we didn’t hit the profit we anticipated, we still made a profit and hit our revenue goal.
Today, my business employs 9 team members with health benefits, 401K and most importantly flexibility to live the life they want and work amongst those who share the same values and vision for each other, the business and our clients. I believe in what I’m building and that’s why Buying Time, LLC will be in business for many many years to come. Adjusting my vision and not being afraid to make changes to the business operations will keep us around a lot longer than sticking to something that no longer works or is no longer needed.
Sustaining entrepreneurship isn’t about anything but living and breathing it every day no matter what gets thrown at you, just make sure you build up your armour because there will be plenty thrown at you.
