Are You OK?
If you live in LA, or grew up in LA, or have family and friends in LA - or even if you don't, you may be experiencing the "collective trauma" and grief that many of us are feeling. I am devastated at the decimation of parts of the beloved city I have called home since birth. I have multiple friends who have experienced total loss - and others who like me, aren't sure what to do to help. Life has changed in an instant for all of us in one way or another. But resilience is one thing I know we have.
One thing I am certain of is the importance of implementing the YES I CAN Pillars during this difficult time...
Self-Care - while it may not seem like the time for self-care, let's remember that the oxygen mask MUST go on YOU before you can care for others. Take a moment (or three) to find your peace. I know I am being reminded regularly to breathe, stop scrolling and gather my inner peace.
Sacred Space - and boundaries. Know your boundaries and give grace to others who hold their boundaries with you. Each person will cope differently.
Support - this is essential, and many are offering support in food and clothing drives, rooms and shelter. But remember the emotional support too - the call or text or hug. (Thank goodness my husband is a good hugger!)
In awareness of that, the one thing I can do is bring a community of amazing women together who rally, even in the difficult times. I'm opening up two new Called to the Table meetings and I'd love to invite you to experience a Table Gathering, virtually or in-person. Tuesday, Jan 21 in person (Torrance - 11:30am - 1pm) or Friday Jan 24th (on Zoom 9a-11aPT).
Called to the Table is a safe space to connect, share and gain support with like-minded women. There is a spiritual component that includes meditation and prayer, as well as an opportunity for everyone to share with facilitated group discussion. Through collaboration, connection and shared wisdom, you will propel each other forward and leave feeling inspired with actionable takeaways.
