Power, Love and Sound Mind
Fear.
We run from it, hide from it, bargain with it and inevitably must face it head on - or be stuck and stagnate.
We have fear of what others think, fear of failure, fear of missing out ... and so much deeper including fear of dying.
Fear can grip us, stop us and keep us from living the life God has planned for us. Fear has stopped me more times than I can count... from big decisions to little actions.
A couple years ago, as I was in discernment over a few things in my life, I asked my uncle for my grandmother's favorite Bible verse. She was the wife of a preacher, my Presbyterian minister grandfather, and a woman who I felt very close to, especially as I reached adulthood and parenting.
My uncle responded with one of her favorites... 2 Timothy 1:7: God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of sound mind.
When I received the email with the verse, I knew the answer to my prayer.
Things to ponder and pray over...
What fear is stopping you today?
What faulty beliefs are your fears based on?
What lie is giving that fear so much power?
"Do not be afraid" and "fear not" are in the Bible numerous times. How can we fully believe and embody that?
